Ich habe es sicher schon mehrmals erwähnt, Ihr müsst es Euch aber trotzdem nochmals anhören/lesen, Es ist sooooo schön wieder vor Anker zu liegen 😀. Mit unseren Ankernachbarn von der Bella und der Arearea verbringen wir hier wunderbare Tage vor La Graciosa. Leider macht das Wetter nicht so ganz mit. Viel Wind, entsprechend Welle, wobei wir hier gut liegen, und sonniger könnte es auch sein. Trotzdem haben wir eine Tour auf den Vulkan gemacht und einen grandiosen Blick über die Bucht und die Insel genossen. Anschließend haben wir uns alle auf der Bella zum Grillen getroffen. War ein sehr lustiger und kurzweiliger Abend.
Auch Boatwork kommt hier nicht zu kurz und wir haben endlich unseren Wassermacher das erste Mal in Betrieb genommen. Da sozusagen ambulant, d.h. noch nicht fest eingebaut, etwas aufwändig im Aufbau, aber funktioniert hat das Ganze sehr gut. Wir hatten auf Anhieb sehr leckeres Trinkwasser und konnten sogar noch 30l in unseren Tank füllen. Wie bereits erwähnt stand ja auch noch Tauchen und Rumpfreinigung auf dem Plan. Nachdem ich mich die ersten Tage erfolgreich darum herum gedrückt habe, es war aber auch einfach zu windig 🥶, haben wir es dann gestern Mittag doch angepackt. Jetzt weiss ich auch wieder warum ich vor 30 Jahren das Tauchen aufgegeben habe, Du benötigst 3x soviel Vorbereitungszeit wie Du im Wasser bist. Schließlich war alles fertig und ich angezogen, mit gefühlt einem Sack Ziegelsteine auf dem Rücken. Im Neopren Anzug war das Wasser plötzlich gar nicht mehr so kalt. Könnte aber auch die Aufregung gewesen sein😅. Der erste Versuch mal unter die Wasseroberfläche zu gehen, endete in einer Mischung aus Frustration und Panikattacke und um ein Haar hätte ich hier schon abgebrochen. Aber dann gab ich mir noch einen weiteren Versuch und siehe da, war alles gar nicht so schrecklich. Ich begann damit den Rumpf abzubürsten, es war nur eine schleimige Algenschicht drauf, keine Muscheln oder Seepocken. Dann ging es an den Propeller. Er liegt etwas tiefer und ich hatte leider zuwenig Blei für meinen Auftrieb. ich musste mich also mit einer Hand am Propeller festhalten während ich mit der anderen Hand die Blätter gereinigt habe. Es funktionierte erstaunlich gut, aber ohne festhalten wäre ich sofort aufgetaucht bzw. von der Welle abgetrieben worden. Alles in allem war das Ergebnis zufriedenstellend, allerdings kann man durchaus noch gründlicher putzen wenn man mal in einer Bucht mit weniger Wind und Welle liegt und genug Blei an Board hat.😉
Den Rest des Nachmittags ließen wir in Ruhe ausklingen, da für für Abends Grillen und Lagerfeuer am Strand geplant war. Um 8:00 zogen wir mit vollgepackten Dinghys los. Nach Auswahl einer geeigneten Feuerstelle wurde der Grill angeschmissen und wir ließen es uns mit vielen Leckereien richtig gut gehen. Anschließend entzündeten wir das Lagerfeuer und genossen das gesellige Beisammensein. So muss Ankerliegen sein.
Heute Vormittag hat uns die Arearea bereits verlassen und wir werden wohl morgen den Weg zurück nach Arrecife antreten, um die letzten Vorbereitungen für unseren finalen Abschied von Lanzarote zu treffen.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned it several times already, but you have to hear/read it again: it’s sooooo nice to be back at anchor 😀. We’re spending some wonderful days here off La Graciosa with our anchorage neighbors, the Bella and the Arearea. Unfortunately, the weather isn’t quite cooperating. There’s a lot of wind and waves, but we’re well sheltered here, and it could be sunnier. Nevertheless, we took a tour of the volcano and enjoyed a magnificent view of the bay and the island. Afterwards, we all met on the Bella for a barbecue. It was a very fun and entertaining evening.
Boatwork is not neglected here either, and we finally put our watermaker into operation for the first time. As it is still portable, i.e. not yet permanently installed, it is a bit complicated to set up, but it worked very well. We had delicious drinking water right away and were even able to fill our tank with 30 liters. As already mentioned, diving and hull cleaning were also on the agenda. After successfully avoiding it for the first few days – it was just too windy 🥶 – we finally got around to it yesterday at lunchtime. Now I remember why I gave up diving 30 years ago: you need three times as long to prepare as you spend in the water. Finally, everything was ready and I was dressed, feeling like I had a sack of bricks on my back. In my wetsuit, the water suddenly didn’t seem so cold anymore. But that could have been the excitement😅. My first attempt to go under the surface ended in a mixture of frustration and panic attack, and I almost gave up right there and then. But then I gave it another try and lo and behold, it wasn’t so bad after all. I started by brushing off the hull; it was just a slimy layer of algae, no mussels or barnacles. Then I moved on to the propeller. It’s a little deeper and unfortunately I didn’t have enough lead for my buoyancy. So I had to hold on to the propeller with one hand while cleaning the blades with the other. It worked surprisingly well, but without holding on, I would have surfaced immediately or been swept away by the waves. All in all, the result was satisfactory, but you can definitely clean more thoroughly if you’re in a bay with less wind and waves and have enough lead on board.😉
We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing, as we had planned a barbecue and campfire on the beach for the evening. At 8:00 p.m., we set off with our dinghies fully loaded. After choosing a suitable spot for the fire, we lit the barbecue and enjoyed a delicious meal. Afterwards, we lit the campfire and enjoyed the convivial get-together. This is what anchoring should be like.
This morning, the Arearea has already left us and we will probably head back to Arrecife tomorrow to make the final preparations for our final farewell to Lanzarote.
